Lipizzaner Stallion Training
Spanish Riding School Visit Watch as the world-famous Lipizzaner stallions are put through their paces during a public training session. Embark your motor coach for a drive to the elegant Hofburg, the former imperial palace and seat of power of Hapsburg Dynasty rulers for centuries. Upon arrival, enter the Spanish Riding School, commissioned in 1729 by Emperor Charles VI and the oldest of its kind in the world; a portrait of the monarch is displayed in the opulent baroque hall—the riding school’s performance venue. Here, you will watch an hour-long training session of the Lipizzaner stallions in the imperial ambience of the baroque winter riding school, accompanied by classical Viennese music. Afterward, take a short walk to Michaelerplatz, where you will board a fiaker , a traditional Viennese horse carriage, for a scenic ride through the city’s old town before transferring back to your ship. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
