Palatinate Wine Route

Germany’s Oldest Wine Road Explore the historic German Wine Route to see ancient ruins and charming villages, with wine tasting along the way. Journey through the scenic Palatinate wine-growing region, to discover prized vineyards and family-owned wineries among lush orchards and historic sites. Renowned for its Riesling production, this region also grows most of Germany’s grapes for red wine varieties. Along the way, stop at medieval Alt-Dahn, the ruins of three castles perched on red sandstone rocks, to learn about its history. Then, pass through verdant countryside and charming villages to reach European Heritage Label site Hambach Castle, a fortress considered to be where German democracy began. Enjoy a tasting of local wines here with a delicious lunch. Then, visit Neustadt to walk through its 14th-century old town of half-timbered houses and cobbled alleyways. After free time, return to your ship. * Demanding - Physically challenging activities, including extensive walks, hiking, riding, water sports, and high altitude activities.
