Linzer Torte Baking Class
Create Famous Cake in a Historic Setting Embrace the flavors of Austria’s most famous cake, the Linzer torte (“Linz tart”), during a hands-on baking class. A traditional Austrian pastry dating to the 17th century, the Linzer torte is a shortbread cookie topped with fruit preserves and sliced nuts. Set out with your guide for a walk to the K.u.K Bakery; the oldest bakery in the city dating back to 1371, it is renowned for its delectable tarts. Upon arrival, enjoy a cup of coffee served in the charming garden or coffeehouse, then begin your immersive workshop. Using the provided baking pan, currant jam and almonds, follow your guide through the traditional process of crafting a Linz tart. Spread the rich currant jam onto the base, skillfully shape the tart and sprinkle it with the almonds. After your tart is baked to perfection, it will be packaged in a decorative box for you to take back with you to your awaiting ship. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
