Lavender Fields of Provence

The Scents of Provence Learn about the lavender that graces the fields of Provence each summer and visit a family-owned distillery. Take a panoramic drive by motor coach into the beautiful countryside of Provence, stopping in the village of Coustellet to visit the Lavender Museum. Founded by a family that runs a nearby lavender farm, its collection of objects and exhibits chronicle the flower’s cultivation, history and use by perfume makers and civilizations dating back to ancient Rome. Continue to a scenic viewpoint that overlooks Gordes, a hillside village of stone buildings that is regarded as one of the most beautiful of its kind in France. Have a traditional Provençal lunch before heading to a family-owned lavender distillery. Here, discover how the same family has cultivated this land for generations and gain insight into the distillation process that turns lavender into essential oils. Please note: this seasonal tour is typically offered from mid-June to mid-July. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
