Hike the Würzburg Hills

Panoramic Views and Vineyards Climb the Würzburg Hills to Marienberg Fortress, rising above the Main River, for impressive city views. Transfer by coach to Nikolausberg for a walk down the way of the cross to follow in the footsteps of hundreds of pilgrims who visit the site every year. Set off on an invigorating hike through the vineyards up to Marienberg Fortress, which dates back to the 8th century as a part of a Celtic settlement. Five hundred years later, a major fortification was constructed on the hill and Marienberg became the ruling seat of the Würzburg prince-bishops for the next half a millennium. Take in its impressive exterior and enjoy the view over the city, spotting the more than two dozen churches spread through out its streets.
