Nativity Scenes of Bamberg Walking Tour

Explore Old Town and Stroll the Advent Trail Follow the advent trail and immerse yourself in Bamberg’s historic 400-year-old yuletide tradition. Join your guide and head to the medieval city center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to follow its “Nativity Path.” Visit the magnificent 11th-century cathedral, rebuilt in late Romanesque and early Gothic styles during the 13th century; this is where both Emperor Henry II and Pope Clement II are buried. You will find a number of Nativity displays around the city, which your guide will explain along the way. A centuries-old tradition, the Nativity Path is a celebrated part of Bamberg’s heritage. After your walk, head to Maximiliansplatz to enjoy free time browsing the stalls of the Christmas market. Enjoy a steaming mug of aromatic glühwein as you shop for festive treats. Afterward, return to your awaiting ship. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
