Bernkastel-Kues Wine Tasting
A Walking Tour and Wine Sampling Along the Moselle Take in the beauty and the charm of one the Moselle Valley’s most enchanting towns, and sample local wine. Second in notoriety only to Trier, the idyllic town of Bernkastel-Kues straddles the Moselle and enjoys a lofty status as both a health resort and a center of winemaking. You will begin your excursion on the Bernkastel side, exploring cobblestone streets lined with timber-framed houses. Browse the medieval marketplace and its 1608 Renaissance Rathaus, or Town Hall, and admire the narrow, tiny Spitzhäuschen, the “Pointed House,” built in 1416. Nearby, the Fountain of St. Michael is an attractive focal point and meeting place. At a local winery, sample Moselle wines such as sweet Riesling, or the lesser-known Rivaner, Kerner and Dornfelder varieties. * Easy - Walking portions are generally over easy surfaces with few steps or inclines. Total time walking or standing is normally not longer than 1.5 hours.
