Historic Saint-Émilion & Château Vineyard Visit

Cutural Landscapes and Heritage in an Old-World Wine-Growing Area Discover the UNESCO World Heritage listed Saint-Émilion region and enjoy a three-course lunch with wine tasting. Begin with a guided walk around Libourne, passing through the open air market while learning about its importance to local heritage, before enjoying free time to explore on your own. Then travel to the medieval hillside village of Saint-Émilion, whose original monastic community started the rich wine-growing traditions of the region. See its Monolithic Church, carved out of the hillside rock in the 12th century, and gain insight into hundreds of years of local history. After your three-course lunch, take a guided tour of a historic château. See the vineyards and learn about the various grape varieties grown and the efforts employed to maintain the château. You will also have an opportunity to visit the wine cellar and taste some of the wines, before returning to your ship. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
