Loiza & Its African Influences

An Engaging Art, Food and Dance Experience Visit the “Capital of Traditions” and the birthplace of bomba during an immersive cultural excursion. Meet your guide at the pier and drive to Loiza, a town renowned for its African-Taíno influenced cuisine and art. Visit the studio and gallery of the established Puerto Rican artist Samuel Lind and view art collections featuring paintings, as well as clay and bronze statues depicting African people and deities. Next, head for lunch at a casual beachside location and savor a delicious snack of local fare. Sit back and relax as you enjoy a toe-tapping performance of bomba music and dance while learning more about the origins of this art form. You will have an opportunity to join in, if you choose. En route to the airport in San Juan, you will drive through the coastal town of Piñones before boarding your flight to return home. Please note: available only for guests with late departures. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines.
