Panoramic Sekondi-Takoradi

Ghana’s Twin Cities Discover the rich history of Sekondi-Takoradi during visits to a museum, a historic district and a colonial fort. The capital of Ghana’s Western Region, the twin cities of Sekondi-Takoradi comprise two historically distinct towns which were officially united in 1946; Sekondi, heavily influenced by Dutch and British colonists, and Takoradi, the site of Ghana’s first deepwater seaport. Depart by motor coach to uncover the history of Sekondi-Takoradi, beginning with a visit to the Bisa Aberwa Museum. Home to more than 2,000 artifacts, this institution is dedicated to preserving and celebrating African history and the black experience across the globe. Continue to Sekondi’s European town to see its Dutch, Portuguese and British influences. Finally, call at the historic Fort Orange, a former Dutch stronghold, and visit the Sekondi township for a glimpse into the daily lives of its people. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
