Encounter Wild Nature on a Coastal Safari Take an exhilarating safari by kayak along the Golfo Nuevo to view sea lions and other Patagonian wildlife. Begin on a beach with a safety briefing and a short instruction session—no experience is required. Then, take to the warm waters in a kayak, following your naturalist guide. Take in the views of the wild coastal scenery as you paddle past low cliffs studded with caves and fossils. Look out for South American sea lions, which can weigh up to 700 pounds, basking and barking on the rocks and beaches. These naturally curious animals frequently plunge into the sea, so do not be surprised if a few pop their heads up close to your kayak. A splash-proof camera is ideal for capturing these graceful animals. Keep your eyes peeled for birdlife, including cormorants, terns and oystercatchers. After, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant near the beach before returning to your ship.
