Ragusa, Ibla & Modica
Baroque Influences and Sicilian Chocolate See the late Baroque architecture of Ragusa and Modica, and enjoy a sampling of Sicilian chocolate. Board your motor coach and set out for Ragusa, a city of contrasts set at the foot of the Hyblaean Mountains. Upon arrival, you will have a guided tour of the historic old town, known as Ragusa Ibla, which was rebuilt following the aftermath of a 17th-century earthquake. It is one of eight areas in southeastern Sicily classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its late-Baroque architecture. Glimpse these influences as you walk its narrow streets, passing by palaces, gardens and churches, including the Church of San Giuseppe. Then, transfer to Modica, home to one of Sicily’s finest chocolate companies to see more Baroque architecture and have a chocolate tasting. For lunch, you will enjoy traditional Sicilian food at a local restaurant, accompanied by a glass of wine. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
