King Crab Safari
Harvest This Arctic Giant From The Sea Venture out on the waters to catch your own king crab on this thrilling excursion. Walk to the fishing pier with your guide, where you will don your required floating suits and set off in a deep-sea raft into the waters of the Sarnesfjorden. The vistas are breathtaking, with green slopes soaring on all sides. Your destination is a local marine farm, where you will see how prized king crabs are harvested as a fisherman pulls the traps from the watery depths. Though a crab from these waters can measure six feet between its claws and weigh 22 pounds, we are likely to catch “small” crabs at 6 to 15 pounds. Back ashore, you will step inside a local venue, where you will prepare and feast on your catch with preparation tips from your cook. After, return to your awaiting ship. Please note: waves and swells may be present during the boat ride. Seasickness pills are recommended for inexperienced sailors. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
