Iceberg Safari
Qaqortoq, Greenland

Iceberg Safari

Cruise Amid Spectacular Ocean Landscapes Sail the Labrador Sea, on the edge of the Arctic Circle, and view Mother Nature’s wonders. During the spring, floating icebergs can be seen around the shores of South Greenland, having formed from the frozen waters of the North Sea; the ocean thaws, sending icebergs south, toward Greenland’s east coast. These impressive sculptures are all unique, providing a haven for wildlife, including seabirds and seals. Admire blue-tinged bergs against a backdrop of lush green hills as your experienced helmsman navigates the Arctic waters. Listen to the interesting narrative that explains the geology of Greenland and fascinating facts about the icebergs; despite their colossal size, only around 10% of their mass is visible above the water. Enjoy a warming beverage and keep your camera at the ready to capture the awe-inspiring vistas. Afterward, return to your awaiting ship. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
