Isafjörður Trail Walk

A Hike Through Isafjörður’s Natural Surroundings Set out on foot through the rugged landscapes of Isafjörður, the largest town in the remote Westfjords region. Travel by motor coach to the trailhead, where you will meet your guide and listen to a short safety briefing. Then, set out through scenic Isafjörður, known for its towering mountains and dramatic coastal scenery. Your hike takes you past purpose-built avalanche barriers, which protect the town below. As you trek along well-maintained paths and former sheep trails, your guide will share insights into the history of Isafjörður and detail how avalanches and landscapes have shaped its landscape over time, influencing settlement sites and more. You will also learn about the effect of glacial erosion on the surrounding terrain and the importance of local industries. Conclude by ascending Bunárfoss, a small waterfall that cascades down a rocky hillside, then return to your ship. Please note: bring appropriate clothes for the weather conditions. Guests must wear sturdy footwear. * Demanding - Physically challenging activities, including extensive walks, hiking, riding, water sports, and high altitude activities. Activities by foot
