The Golden Circle & a Geothermal Bakery

Experience Natural Beauty and Icelandic Treats Journey through Iceland’s “Golden Circle” and indulge in local delicacies on this small group experience. Embark on a scenic drive through the moorlands of Mosfellsheiði toward Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The park is rich in natural beauty and historically significant; Iceland’s first national assembly was formed here in 930 AD. Admire the spectacular scenery before continuing to the Geysir area, where you will marvel at the power of nature as you view the Strokkur geyser. After, head to Gullfoss to witness the “Golden Falls” as it plunges into Hvítá Canyon, before enjoying a delicious lunch at a local restaurant. Conclude your day with a visit to the geothermal bakery at Laugarvatn for a tasting of their famous rye bread, which is baked underground and topped with smoked trout, per local tradition. Enriched and sated, return to your awaiting ship. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
