Dubrovnik, Croatia

Dalmatian Flavors & Rural Traditions

Authentic Tastes of Rural Croatia Discover the rhythms of country life and sample local treats including oysters, olive oil, honey and more. Set out by motor coach along Dubrovnik’s western riviera for historic Ston, a town known for its medieval fortifications. Embark on a guided orientation walk, then head to Mali Ston Bay for a curated tasting at a local oyster bar. Here, you will try European flat oysters; one of the region’s most distinctive foods, they have been cultivated in the bay for centuries. Continue inland to a family estate, where your hosts will greet you with a welcome drink. Learn about rural life in Croatia as you explore the olive groves, apiary and vegetable gardens. At the homestead, sample homemade olive oil, goat cheese, honey and wine, then view artifacts reflecting decades of family history. Conclude with a light lunch of seasonal ingredients before returning to your ship. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
