Behind Closed Doors at the Alutiiq Museum

Explore Alutiiq Heritage on a Privileged Access Visit Connect with culture on a Privileged Access tour of the Alutiiq Museum. One of eight groups of Indigenous Alaskans, the Alutiiq people have occupied south central Alaska for more than 7,500 years; Alutiiq language, traditions and customs remain a vibrant part of everyday life. Take a complimentary shuttle bus to central Kodiak and walk to the museum, where you will receive a warm welcome as you delve into the world of the Alutiiq people. Expert guides will describe the artifacts and exhibits on display, which have been curated to preserve the community’s heritage. The museum’s private collection will also be opened exclusively to Viking guests. Meet a local Alutiiq artist, who will present a collection of personal works as you enjoy Alaskan smoked salmon and a warm beverage. After your tour, enjoy free time to explore the gallery and gift shop. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
