International Antarctic Centre & Christchurch

An Antarctic Experience and City Drive Enjoy a dynamic and educational Antarctic experience, followed by a short panoramic drive through Christchurch. Established in 1992, the International Antarctic Centre is located on the campus of New Zealand’s Antarctic research hub and offers an immersive glimpse into the mysteries of the “Last Continent.” Upon arrival, meet your guide and experience Antarctica through audiovisual exhibits and hands-on activities. Meet rescued little blue penguins, the smallest penguin on earth, or step into the Storm Dome to feel real snow and ice as you brave the chill of an Antarctic storm. Those seeking a more active experience can board an all-terrain vehicle to traverse a rugged ice course. Then, return to your coach for a panoramic drive through Christchurch’s city center, where you will see modern architecture alongside heritage buildings. At the end of your excursion, return to your ship. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
