Religious Coexistence in Morocco: An Inside View

A Harmonious City of Many Beliefs Learn about the religious diversity of Morocco at three distinct and revered houses of worship. Though Morocco is a Muslim country, it embraces the religious views of all its citizens. Begin with a drive to the colossal Hassan II Mosque. As you explore, gain insight into the traditions of Islam from your guide and view the massive courtyard and impressive minaret, one of the tallest in the world. Continue to the Museum of Moroccan Judaism, which represents Morocco’s other main religion. Here, learn how the Moroccan Jews, who comprise the second-largest community in Israel, still feel a strong tie to their local roots. Next, drive past the Habous Quarter (New Medina) before a final stop at a Christian church, a significant site for many of the European immigrant population that plays an important commercial role in the city. After, return by coach to your ship. Please note: on Saturdays and Sundays, the visit to the Museum of Moroccan Judaism will be substituted with a visit to the Beth-El Temple Synagogue. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing
