The Arctic Landscapes of Isfjorden Admire the natural splendor of Isfjorden as you voyage to see historic sites and search for nesting seabirds. Take a short walk to the harbor where you will meet your skipper, don your weatherproof gear with goggles and a life jacket, and receive a short safety briefing. Then, board your open Polarcirkel boat and head into the picturesque waters of Adventfjorden, named after a ship in the area’s whaling past. Your skipper will analyze the weather conditions and determine the best route. You will journey to the staggered bird cliffs on the coastline of Isfjorden and see the remains of the abandoned settlement Grumant, once one of the largest settlements on Svalbard. In either case, your crew will point out local wildlife and educate you on the area’s maritime origins as you enjoy cookies and a warming beverage, if weather permits. After, return to Longyearbyen harbor and your awaiting ship. * Demanding - Physically challenging activities, including extensive walks, hiking, riding, water sports, and high altitude activities. Activities by foot may contain difficult, unpaved surfaces and/or multiple stairs and steep inclines. Total time walking or st
