Life Along the Guamá River

Visit a Local Village and Cruise Through the Rain Forest Experience life along the Guamá River and interact with locals during a journey to Boa Vista do Acará Island. A branch of the mighty Amazon River, the Guamá River is composed of myriad channels lined with lush tropical rain forest. Tender to Docas do Pará, where you will board a speedboat with your guide to cruise along the river and through its natural creeks. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to take a closer look at the equatorial flora and fauna. Upon arrival at Boa Vista do Acará, meet its native caboclo residents, known as Ribeirinhos . Enjoy a guided walk through the village—taking in the houses built on stilts above the river—and venture into the forest, where your guide will identify the local plant life. You may have a chance to sample fruit from a cocoa tree or a Brazil nut before returning to your ship. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
