Hever Castle & Gardens
A Stroll Around Anne Boleyn’s Childhood Home Explore historic Hever Castle as you discover more about the home of one of England’s most famous Tudor queens. Anne Boleyn, the second wife of King Henry VIII, was beheaded for treason in 1536. She spent much of her youth at Hever Castle, the original construction of which dates back to 1270, with the Tudor manor house added some 200 years later. It was restored by William Waldorf Astor in the early 20th century, and today you can explore the castle’s fine display of furniture, tapestries, antiques and collection of Tudor paintings, including two prayer books written by Anne Boleyn herself. Step outside onto the castle grounds and take a stroll around its magnificent gardens, set amid 125 acres of stunning landscape. See the Italian Garden and the colorful walled rose garden, and admire the array of water features; the formal Loggia Fountain was inspired by the Trevi Fountain in Rome. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
