Glover Garden & Mt. Inasa Observatory
Early Western-Style Architecture, Unique Flora and Observatory Visit Call at historic Glover Garden and take in sweeping views of Nagasaki from atop Mt. Inasa. Take a scenic drive to Glover Garden, located on a picturesque hillside overlooking the port. The garden is the former estate of Scottish merchant Thomas Blake Glover, who contributed to developing modern industry in Japan. View its collection of late 19th- and early 20th-century Western-style buildings, and stroll through its gardens along paths lined with flora found only in southern Japan. After, enjoy lunch at a restaurant that dates to the 17th century while a geisha performs a traditional Japanese dance; you will have an opportunity to participate, if you wish. Following lunch, travel to the Mt. Inasa Observatory. Ascend to its summit, located over 1,000 feet above sea level, to take in the 360° panoramic views of Nagasaki and the surrounding natural park. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
