Yehliu Geopark & Jiufen Village
Natural Works of Art and Scenic Mountainside Village View natural rock formations and visit a charming village set along the northeastern coast of Taipei. Drive by motor coach to Yehliu Geopark, home to a naturally created statue park. Known as hoodoo stones, these unique sculptures are created by the effects of erosion on hard and soft rock layers. View rock formations such as “Queen’s Head,” “Ginger Rock” or “Mushroom Fields." After, head inland to Jiufen, a quaint village built up the slopping mountainside. This once-sleepy hamlet experienced an economic boom in the late 19th century when gold was discovered nearby. Today, the gold is gone, and Jiufen is better known for its lantern-lined alleyways, teahouses and atmospheric setting. Visit the historic commerce district to browse its many shops, or sample the local cuisine on your own, before returning to your ship. * Demanding - Physically challenging activities, including extensive walks, hiking, riding, water sports, and high altitude activities.
