Nighttime Vistas from Atop Mt. Tengu
Unique Panoramic Views of Otaru and Ishikari Bay See the city of Otaru illuminated against the nighttime sky during an evening visit to scenic Mt. Tengu. Named after a legendary winged creature from Japanese folklore, Mt. Tengu is considered one of the best night views in Hokkaidō Prefecture. Located just to the west of Otaru, this steep-sided stratovolcano’s peak stands at more than 8,600 feet above sea level, offering sweeping views of the city and Ishikari Bay. Embark on an evening drive to the base of the mountain. Upon arrival, board the cable car for a 4-minute ride to the observatory. Gaze out over the city, its network of lit streets and buildings stretching toward the dark waters of the gulf. Enjoy coffee or tea and snacks at the on-site café while taking in the views and photographing your beautiful surroundings. Afterward, you will descend the mountain via the ropeway, board your motor coach and return to your ship. * Easy - Walking portions are generally over easy surfaces with few steps or inclines. Total time walking or standing is normally not longer than 1.5 hours.
