Misty Fjords of Ketchikan

A Breathtaking Flight into the Wilderness Soar above the wilds of Alaska and glimpse some of its most spectacular scenery from the air. Meet your pilot guide, climb on board your bush plane and listen to a short safety briefing. Then it’s time to don your headset and prepare for take-off. Take in the views of the dramatic landscape below you and listen as your pilot describes the sights. Journey toward the majestic Misty Fjords National Monument, often called the “Yosemite of the North” for its similar geology—spanning approximately 2.3 million acres, it is the largest wilderness area in the Tongass National Forest. Over 17,000 years ago, glaciers carved this light-colored granite into deep U-shaped troughs that filled with sea water, with vertical walls that often rise 2,000 to 3,000 feet. From above, keep watch for wildlife including bears, bald eagles and wolves. After your flight, return to your ship. A liability waiver must be signed to participate in this tour. * Easy - Walking portions are generally over easy surfaces with few steps or inclines. Total time walking or standing is normally not longer than 1.5 hours.
