Hot Spring Experience

Traditional Japanese Onsen and Umi Jigoku Immerse yourself in one of Japan’s most cherished rituals—bathing in a hot spring. Embark on a scenic drive by motor coach to a hotel set in the hills above Beppu, where 11 onsens , or open air pools await. Beppu is home to one of the largest hot spring systems in the world, which has led many to dub it Japan’s “Onsen Capital.” Upon arrival, settle into the mineral-rich waters and experience the Japanese tradition of hot spring bathing, followed by an opportunity to refresh yourself in the sauna. For an authentic Japanese bathing experience, soak in the Tanayu spring pool, where clothing is not permitted—your guide will explain the culture and etiquette behind the tradition. After your bathing experience, travel to Umi Jigoku, one of Beppu’s famed “Hells,” to take in the dramatic sight of its boiling turquoise waters, before returning to your awaiting ship.
