Immerse Yourself in Yucatecan Culture Journey into the heart of the Yucatán with a visit to Tixkokob, a town where tradition shapes daily life. Drive by motor coach to this picturesque town, known as the hammock capital of the Yucatán. Begin with a guided walk through the central square and see its historic church, learning how the town has been shaped by its colonial past and enduring Maya heritage before continuing to the local market. Upon arrival, you will borrow a traditional sabucán (a woven market bag), and set out to explore the stalls. Learn about native produce and spices as well as regional cooking customs, then head on foot to Pueblo Pibil to join local cooks for a hands-on cooking workshop, where you will learn the ancestral techniques for preparing pib , a dish slow-cooked underground.
