Rhodes Culture & Traditions

Experience Modern and Traditional Life on Rhodes Discover the duality of Rhodes during a journey through its modern center and a visit to a traditional house. Meet your guide for a drive through the New Town of Rhodes. Passing Mandraki Harbor and Fort Nicholas, you will see two bronze deer that mark the site where the Colossus of Rhodes stood. Ascend Monte Smith, then continue to the medieval village of Koskinou. Here, you will call at a traditional house that dates to the early 20th century. Learn about the daily lives of the people who lived here and view handwoven textiles, ceramic ornaments and the preserved pebble floor. Next, head to the village of Archangelos, where a long tradition of carpet and pottery making is kept alive by locals in traditional dress. Stroll its charming streets and visit a local home, where you can enjoy homemade bread, Greek delicacies and conversation, all courtesy of the lady of the house. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
