Scotland’s East Coast Discovery

Fishing Villages, Peterhead Prison Museum & Fraserburgh Traverse the rugged shoreline of eastern Scotland during a full-day excursion to uncover the region’s past. Board your motor coach and head north along the coastline, taking in the views as you travel to the Peterhead Prison Museum. Established in 1888, this Victorian site was once Scotland’s most notorious high-security prison; today the museum offers an immersive glimpse into life behind bars. Step into the past as you walk through the prison blocks and discover the stories of former guards and inmates. Continue to a local hotel to enjoy afternoon tea, then return to your coach for the journey to Fraserburgh, home to Scotland’s first lighthouse—established in the late 18th century, it operated until 1991. Cap your day with a visit to this historic site and its adjoining museum to learn about the history of Scottish lighthouses, then drive along the coast to return to Aberdeen. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
