Flåm, Norway

Viking Village of Njardarheimr

Witness Age-Old Traditions from the Viking Era Experience what life was like during the Viking era 1,000 years ago at the village of Njardarheimr. Travel by motor coach into the heart of the picturesque landscape of the Norwegian fjords—a UNESCO World Heritage Site—to the village of Gudvangen, called the “Palace of the Gods” and dedicated to Njord, the god of Trading and Sailing. This quaint village located at the end of the Nærøyfjord is the setting for Njardarheimr, a living museum populated by a community of volunteers who are dedicated to recreating life during the Viking era. Set out on a guided stroll through the streets, stopping to learn about handicrafts and history and participate in popular Viking pastimes such as axe throwing or archery. After delighting in a delicious snack, you will return to Flåm and you ship. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
