Scenic Ride Through the Lysefjord Speed through the waves like a Viking seafarer during an invigorating cruise in a rigid inflatable boat, or RIB. Renowned for their sailing prowess, Vikings traveled long distances to trade and discover new lands. This is your opportunity to catch a glimpse of Norse life. Meet your guide, hear a safety briefing and put on your thermal suit. Then, board your RIB before heading into the Stavanger archipelago. Admire the many Stavanger vacation homes on these small islets as you speed past. Leaving the archipelago, you will enter Lysefjord. Its name (“light fjord”) comes from the light-colored granite rock rising from the waters. Your guide will take you as close as possible to the steep sides of the fjord. Feel the splash from the roaring Hengjane waterfall—the “water of wisdom,” according to Norse mythology—and keep watch for eagles or seals as you cruise.
