The Jurassic Coast & Lyme Regis

Picturesque Countryside and the “Pearl of Dorset” Marvel at the views of the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and visit historic Lyme Regis. Journey through quaint Dorset countryside villages, passing the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy—host of the 2012 Olympic sailing events—on your way to Abbotsbury Hill. Enjoy a photo stop and admire the vistas over Lyme Bay and Chesil Beach toward Portland and the Fleet Lagoon. Your next scenic stop takes you to West Bay, a small fishing village often featured in British dramas; then, you will continue on to Lyme Regis. Located by the River Lym, the town features its own working water mill. Enjoy a guided tour and explore neighboring artists’ workshops to witness craftsmen at work. Stroll through the Old Town’s winding maze of streets reaching down to the ancient Cobb Harbor. After a traditional British lunch of “fish and chips,” enjoy free time followed by a short stop at Portland Bill Lighthouse on the way back to your ship. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
