Salmon Smoking & Tasting

A Culinary Experience in a Local Pub Learn about a traditional salmon smoking process and sample a taste of this local delicacy in quaint Glenuig. Set out on a short drive by motor coach to the village of Glenfinnan, known for its railway viaduct, an impressive feat of engineering and part of the legendary West Highland Line. After a photo stop, continue to a local pub in the small coastal community of Glenuig. Here, you will meet an expert salmon smoker from Ardshealach Fine Foods, who will guide you through the steps involved in salmon smoking. Learn about traditional curing methods, the preparation of the fish and the intricate process of hand-slicing a side of smoked salmon. Then, you will have an opportunity to taste the finished product, as well as smoked duck breast and Lochaber smoked cheese, served on oatcakes and accompanied by wine or whiskey. After, return to your coach for the drive back to your ship. * Easy - Walking portions are generally over easy surfaces with few steps or inclines. Total time walking or standing is normally not longer than 1.5 hours.
