Snapshots of Derry

See the Sights in a Historic Port Town Set out to enjoy a panoramic tour of Derry and uncover insights into its rich history. Board your coach and set out along the Foyle River toward Londonderry, more commonly known as Derry. Along the way, you will pass by a former workhouse for the poor, a British army barracks and the old shipyard and waterfront, one of the primary embarkation points for Irish emigrants during the Great Famine. Continue to the Museum of Free Derry to learn about the Irish civil rights era of the 1960s and 1970s. Afterward, explore the surrounding area to see several murals commemorating this turbulent period, known as the Troubles. Walk the 25-foot-high walls that surround Derry en route to Guildhall; built during the 17th century, they are among the best-preserved fortified walls in Europe. Cap your excursion with a wine reception, before returning to your awaiting ship. * Demanding - Physically challenging activities, including extensive walks, hiking, riding, water sports, and high altitude activities.
