Haggis Making: From Croft to Plate
Learn the Art of Making a Scottish Classic Attend a culinary workshop and learn how to make Scotland’s renowned specialty, haggis. During the 15th century, haggis became a firm favorite across Scotland; today, it has gained popularity worldwide with many variations available. Drive to a local croft where you will meet your host and don your apron to begin your workshop. Listen to an introduction of this much-loved and iconic dish, traditionally made using the heart, liver and lungs from the sheep, mixed with oatmeal, suet, onions and spices, then encased and boiled. Watch a demonstration, then following their lead, make your own blend before stuffing the skin. Your haggis will be cooked for 45 minutes, allowing you time to explore the croft, including its herb gardens. After reciting Robert Burns’s Ode to Haggis , enjoy your creation before returning to your ship. * Easy - Walking portions are generally over easy surfaces with few steps or inclines.
