Duart Castle
Tobermory, Scotland

Duart Castle

Explore a Historic Gem Delve into hundreds of years of Scottish history during a visit to Duart Castle. Located in a stunning position along the west coast of Scotland, the seat of Clan Maclean has stood proudly on the peninsula since the 13th century. Embark on a scenic drive to Duart Castle, where you will be greeted by your local guide. Enjoy an overview of the castle’s history, then begin a tour of its grounds as you walk through the ancient keep and visit the dungeons where officers of Tobermory’s Spanish galleon were imprisoned. The castle has a fascinating storied past and was completely renovated in 1911. With any luck, Sir Lachlan Maclean himself may be in residence during your visit. After time to explore on your own, you may browse the giftshop or enjoy refreshments in the tea room, before returning to your ship. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
