Robert Burns Life & Times

The Heritage & Inspiration of Scotland’s National Bard Journey to the Burns National Heritage Park for a unique encounter with Scotland’s favorite son. You will travel by bus to Ayrshire, through the landscape that inspired world-renowned poet Robert Burns. A knowledgeable local guide will welcome you and introduce you to the park, which you will have the opportunity to explore at your leisure. You can visit the humble cottage where Burns was born. Fully restored, it depicts what life was like throughout his childhood. The Robert Burns Birthplace Museum houses not only an original manuscript of the famous song “Auld Lang Syne,” but also the world’s most important collection of manuscripts, artifacts and memorabilia. The Tam O’Shanter Experience uses laser disc technology and special effects to bring Burns’ best-loved tale to life with an audiovisual presentation. Also view the Auld Kirk in Alloway (where Burns’s father is buried) and the Brig o’ Doon, both of which feature prominently in the poem. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
