Temples & Island Life of Koh Samui
View Spiritual Sites and Visit a Beachside Town Gain insight into Koh Samui’s spiritual side as you visit island temples and explore Chaweng. You will meet your guide and drive inland, passing lush tropical vegetation, unspoiled villages and white-sand beaches along the way. At the Wat Phra Yai, the Big Buddha Temple, witness a 39-foot golden statue of Buddha sitting atop a wide staircase decorated with sculpted dragons and carved nāga, deities in the form of snakes. You will also see Wat Plai Laem, where some styles of temple art date back centuries. During your visit, admire the large statue of Kuan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy, housed outside the shrine within the temple compound. After, continue to Chaweng, a beach side town offering a white sand beach lined with shops, bars and eateries. After free time to explore at your leisure, return to your ship. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines.
