An Excursion to a Majestic Medieval Castle Discover the fairy-tale castle of Schwerin, once the seat of the grand dukes of Mecklenburg. Board your motor coach for the drive to Schwerin Castle, situated on a tiny island in its namesake lake. Here, you will meet your guide and explore the halls of this grand estate, learning about the House of Mecklenburg—and their grand lifestyle—and hearing stories of “Petermännchen,” the castle’s good-natured ghost. In old downtown Schwerin, stroll past the 19th-century Tudor-style Schwerin Town Hall, visit the brick Gothic Schwerin Cathedral and the old market. Here, you will have a refreshment before enjoying free time afterwards to browse the handicraft shops that line the Schlosstrasse or "castle street", or relax on a bench overlooking the castle to take in the stunning scenery.
