Gdańsk, City of Solidarity

Power to the People Movement Travel to the European Solidarity Center, then visit the old town of Gdańsk and take a boat trip past the shipyard. The Solidarity Center celebrates the movement and the victory that was achieved peacefully thanks to the power of people uniting together. The center opened in 2014 and quickly gained international recognition, picking up the prestigious Council of Europe Museum prize in 2016. The building is centered around a permanent exhibition dedicated to the history of Solidarity and the opposition, which led to the democratic transformation of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. A viewing terrace on the roof allows visitors to look out over the remains of the Lenin Shipyards, where the Solidarity movement was born. Following the tour of the center, you will head to old town for a tour and some free time before heading back to the ship by boat. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
