Dunedin High Country Expedition

Local Farming Traditions Venture off the beaten path to learn about the daily operations of a New Zealand high country station. Meet your guide and set out on a journey of discovery. First, travel through the vibrant city of Dunedin, known for its rich Scottish heritage and dramatic coastal landscapes, and into the highlands of inland Otago. These rolling hills are home to a range of wildlife, including the New Zealand falcon and grand skinks. Your journey will take you to a high country station, a large pastoral farm located in an elevated inland region, typically intended for livestock farming. Here, you will have the opportunity to meet local farmers, see the operating paddocks and learn about daily life on the property. Gain insight into the operation of these stations, which are emblematic of New Zealand’s rural landscape and culture. After, return to your awaiting ship. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
