Barilla Bay Oyster Farm & Winery
Tasmania (Hobart), Australia

Barilla Bay Oyster Farm & Winery

Indulge in Delicious Local Mollusks and Tasmanian Wines Savor the exquisite taste of Pacific oysters and fine wine at a Barilla Bay oyster farm and nearby winery. Established in 1980, the Barilla Oyster Farm has been a pioneer in developing new methods for growing these delicious saltwater mollusks. Your guide will explain the importance of the bay’s tidal waters and show you how oysters are grown from a tiny spat to full maturity as you tour the production facility. Learn about the farm’s conservation efforts, and how the cold, clean ocean waters affect the delicate taste and texture of their oysters. Then, sample some of these freshly picked, mouthwatering morsels for yourself. After, head to a well-known nearby winery for a presentation on wine appreciation followed by a sampling of local Tasmanian wines. Enjoy a scenic drive past some of Hobart’s major landmarks on the way back to your ship. * Easy - Walking portions are generally over easy surfaces with few steps or inclines. Total time walking or standing is normally not longer than 1.5 hours.
