Cruise to Natures Wonders
Dunedin (Port Chalmers), New Zealand

Cruise to Natures Wonders

Scenic Vistas and Wildlife Set sail on a scenic cruise along New Zealand’s Otago Peninsula, home to some of the region’s rare wildlife. Board your catamaran and sail from Otago Harbour, passing the Aramoana sandspit, the Mole and the historic Taiaroa Head lighthouse. At Wellers Rock, disembark for a short transfer to Natures Wonders. At this private working farm, you will board either a mini-bus or an Argo—an eight-wheel drive off-road vehicle—and journey through the outback to learn about the conservation efforts to protect the local wildlife. Viewing Penguin Beach from above, keep watch for the yellow-eyed penguin—the world’s rarest—recognizable due to the pale-yellow band encircling their heads. You may also see diminutive blue penguins nestled in their burrows. Halfway through the journey, switch vehicles and continue your wildlife drive. Enjoy refreshments before returning to your awaiting ship. Please note: wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
