Great Houses of Dunedin

Scenic Coastal Drive and Standout Architecture of Historic Dunedin Travel the coast to see this Victorian city’s architectural highlights, and tour an Edwardian mansion and a castle. Depart the port by motor coach, admiring the seascapes while en route to your first stop. See the city’s historic architecture, passing a collection of Victorian buildings such as the University of Otago, Dunedin Law Courts and Otago Boys’ High School, as well as the Dunedin Railway Station. Stop at the Olveston House and tour this 35-room Edwardian mansion with treasures collected during businessman David Theomin’s global travels. Continue to Larnach Castle, a unique neo-Gothic structure and New Zealand’s only castle, with breathtaking views and an intriguing history. It took over 15 years to finish its construction. Enjoy a guided tour and high tea in the castle’s ballroom, followed by free time to stroll the gardens before returning to your ship. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
