History of Philipsburg by Foot

Tropical Walk and Sweeping Vistas Escape into the serenity of St. Martin’s during an invigorating walk through the Dutch side of the island. Meet your knowledgeable guide, lace up your shoes and set out along the road, glimpsing the breathtaking tropical landscape of this idyllic Caribbean beauty. Enjoy sweeping views of the sea, harbor and your cruise ship from a strategic lookout point in Great Bay. Continue your stroll along a path to Fort Amsterdam, located on a peninsula between Great and Little Bay. This 16th-century fortress, the first of its kind built by the Dutch in the Caribbean, offers more stunning views from its elevated ruins. After your hike, indulge in a fresh fruit salad to recharge your energy, then make your way back to the boardwalk. You can choose to take a water taxi back to your ship, or enjoy additional free time to explore Philipsburg at your leisure. * Demanding - Physically challenging activities, including extensive walks, hiking, riding, water sports, and high altitude activities.
