After a brief panoramic city tour, visit the splendid Church of San Nicolás, the “Valencian Sistine Chapel.” Inside, marvel at 20,000 square feet of lush baroque frescoes adorning the domes and columns. Then, head upstairs to enjoy a truly illuminating view of this cultural treasure, a privilege reserved for Viking guests. Next, drive to the town of Manises, Spain’s largest ceramics center. Explore two factories specializing in the craft, one representing old traditions and one the new. At the José Gimeno Martínez Factory-Museum, visit a traditional workshop operating since the 14th century. After viewing a film about the enduring craft, continue to the ceramic factory Domanises, where modern and innovative techniques produce interesting pieces. You will be invited to create your own keepsake.
