Klawock Wildlife Cruise
Klawock, Alaska, United States

Klawock Wildlife Cruise

Watch for Humpback Whales and Otters Embark a purpose-built wildlife-viewing boat and set out in search of Klawock’s local wildlife. Board your vessel at Port Klawock dock and settle into a seat designed for open-water viewing. Your captain will set sail on a route that calls at sites with their own distinct ecosystems within Klawock’s water-life archipelago, allowing you the opportunity to see a diverse array of local wildlife. Scan for humpback whales feeding on plankton, herring and salmon fry, shifting with their prey between channels and nearshore waters. Continue into sheltered kelp and seaweed beds, where sea otters gather in rafts and drift with the tide. Learn how otters influence the balance of marine habitats in Alaska while you watch them groom, dive and surface—be sure to bring your camera to capture photographs of the wildlife you encounter. After, return to your ship. Please note: wildlife sightings are not guaranteed. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
