Drive by motor coach to the Klawock River Hatchery, a cornerstone of southeast Alaska’s fishing economy. During a guided visit, learn how salmon eggs are collected and incubated, and the ongoing conservation projects that aim to reinvigorate the river’s waters—millions of fry have been released into the Klawock River each year since 1977. Next, continue to Klawock Lake, where you will listen to a short safety briefing before boarding your kayak and setting out to explore. Paddle along the shoreline and between islets, learning about the diverse ecosystem of this region while you keep watch for local wildlife.
